CERTIFICATE OF DUTCH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

CNAVT

The CNaVT exam is ideal for those who want to demonstrate their Dutch proficiency with a recognised certificate. The exam is held annually in May. 

 

The CNaVT offers exams in various domains, tailored to your personal goals. Learn Dutch for travel, study, or work in the Netherlands or Flanders. 

The five CNaVT exams:

- Maatschappelijk Informeel (INFO) – Level A2

  For informal, everyday situations. 

- Maatschappelijk Formeel  – Level B1

  For formal contexts within Dutch or Flemish society. 

- Zakelijk Professioneel – Level B2

  For professional settings, such as healthcare or administration (not offered by World Wide Juf). 

- Educatief Startbekwaam  – Level B2

  For students aiming to study at colleges or universities in the Netherlands or Flanders. 

- Educatief Professioneel – Level C1

  For advanced knowledge in academic or professional environments.

                                           CNAVT EXAM SUPPORT

Online Conferentie

We offer comprehensive support for the CNaVT exams. Before starting the support sessions, you can opt for an assessment test, allowing us to recommend the appropriate level. Each session lasts approximately 60 minutes and costs €76. 

 

Our guidance is tailored to your personal goals and vision for passing the CNaVT. This helps us determine the right level and prepare you thoroughly for the exam. 

 

Exam preparation is available through an NT2 annual or half-year package, or via a flexible lesson card. 

CNAVT EXAM A2

Maatschappelijk Informeel -  A2
 

This exam is designed for teenagers (16+) or adults (18+) who aim to function in informal, everyday situations. 

 

The exam focuses on scenarios from personal life, such as reading personal messages, extracting information from brochures, and explaining personal interests. 

 

The exam consists of three components: 

- A: Listening (and writing) 

- B: Reading and writing 

- C: Speaking 

 

The exam must be completed in full to earn the certificate. The total duration is approximately 3 hours.

CNaVT

Maatschappelijk formeel -  B1
 

This exam is for teenagers (16+) or adults (18+) who wish to function independently in more formal contexts within Dutch or Flemish society. 

 

It covers situations from the public domain, such as understanding instructions, reading official correspondence, completing forms, formulating formal requests, and seeking information. 

 

The exam consists of three components: 

- A: Listening (and writing) 

- B: Reading and writing 

- C: Speaking 

 

The exam must be completed in full to earn the certificate. The total duration is approximately 3,5 hours. 

CNAVT EXAM B2

Educatief Startbekwaam - (STRT) B2

This exam is tailored for highly educated adults (18+) or teenagers (16+) completing secondary or higher education abroad, preparing to start studies at a Flemish or Dutch university or college. 

 

Tasks are drawn from higher education contexts, such as summarising lectures, presenting arguments, writing persuasive letters, and delivering presentations. 

 

The exam consists of three components: 

- A: Listening (and writing) 

- B: Reading and writing 

- C: Speaking 

 

The exam must be completed in full to earn the certificate. The total duration is approximately 4,5 hours.

Educatief Professioneel -  C1

This exam is intended for highly educated adults (18+) who aim to function in a challenging, knowledge- or communication-driven role: 

- In higher education, as a teacher of Dutch as a Foreign Language in their home country or as a researcher in a Dutch-language academic setting. 

- As a teacher in Flemish or Dutch primary or secondary education. 

- As an employee in a professional organisation or business environment requiring advanced Dutch for corporate communication. 

 

The exam consists of three components: 

- A: Listening (and writing) 

- B: Reading and writing 

- C: Speaking 

 

The exam must be completed in full to earn the certificate. The total duration is approximately
5 hours.
